if your going with such a cam i agree with Damon. dont even think about using the stock springs. also have a shop shim them so they will all be at the same rate.
as for cams, im running a comp 08-302-8 in my 305 and i love it. i have mild port work done on my heads and will soon be dropping on a ported base, runners and plenum. my cam is 480/480 lift 210/220 @50 and 112 LSA. to give ya a lil driveability tip, dont go with a cam any lower than 112 LSA. your brakes and such start to suffer.
also another spring to consider are the 986-16 comp springs. you wil hafta cut the seats for them to fit but they are another spring you can go with. also the 26918-16 behives will drop right in the stock seat. but with that you would need 772-16 retainers and i cant recall the locs at the moment and i pull these dang things at work every day.
as for roller lifters, if your block is factory roller you can use the OEM 850-16 or the 875-16 lifters.
