tired 5.7 in my 90 formula
Re: tired 5.7 in my 90 formula
There are probably a few reasons why your car is running sluggish. It may be that your torque converter is going bad, or you have a clogged catalytic converter or something simple like that. It may also be that you are losing a lot of compression because your engine is going bad. I would start by checking simple things like running compression checks and making sure your spark plugs and wires are good. Locate the problem(s) first before trying to find a quick fix.

Like he said, check compression, timing, and tune up parts first.

a basic rebuild kit would probably fix it right up. assuming the internals are fine.
or you could just pony up about $1500 and buy a 300hp crate motor and swap the blocks...most things should bolt up directly.

Also check the injectors if they are originals. The ones on an 89 Formula 350 I used to have were done @ 100k, new ones made a big difference. There are shops that can flow/clean them on a fixture; cheaper than replacement.
