tired 5.7 in my 90 formula

the car has 150,000 miles it runs good but does not have the horspower it should, what can i do to get it running better?

There are probably a few reasons why your car is running sluggish. It may be that your torque converter is going bad, or you have a clogged catalytic converter or something simple like that. It may also be that you are losing a lot of compression because your engine is going bad. I would start by checking simple things like running compression checks and making sure your spark plugs and wires are good. Locate the problem(s) first before trying to find a quick fix.

I had 160k on my IROC 350 and was still out spankin' stangs. And the motor and trans were ALL ORIGINAL.
Like he said, check compression, timing, and tune up parts first.

a basic rebuild kit would probably fix it right up. assuming the internals are fine.

or you could just pony up about $1500 and buy a 300hp crate motor and swap the blocks...most things should bolt up directly.

Also check the injectors if they are originals. The ones on an 89 Formula 350 I used to have were done @ 100k, new ones made a big difference. There are shops that can flow/clean them on a fixture; cheaper than replacement.
