Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

No header install can be done without more than 6 hours of work or more, no easy bolt-ins

Correct me if I am wrong anyone but ..... If I am not mistaken ..the "L98 anlge " is different than "angled plug" heads . I have heard it refered to as the "L98 angle" ...hope it helps

Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

I hope I'm not the only one confussed.
In "85 305's" original post the part # 500-68460 headers are long tube with the collectors pointing straight back parallel to the ground and the center line of the car. Any "Y" pipe for these would have to be under or aft of the trans. That's why it says "for true duals only".
The "Y" pipe that "Phantomfe3" posted is clearly for shorties or mid-length headers like the part #500-68470 headers. The fitment note about "chevy aluminum only", refers to chevy "type heads", ie. no twisted wedge, Brodex, etc.
I have had both shorties and LT's on my 383 in my 84, with Dart aluminum heads (Chevy style), and have had no problems with either.
It seems there is always a problem. With the shorties I had to fabricate my own "Y" pipe because I had installed subframe connector that were not compatable.

Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

How can bolting up like 6 freaking bolts NOT be done in under 6 hours? lol.. it seems easy; set the headers in the engine bay, lower engine, bolt up, be done with it
NastyCamaro: Nope, I'm still confused, lol.
Z28SORR: You and Phantomfe3 claim that there are some y-pipes sold my jegs that will fit that model number shortie headers? I called jegs and they said it wont fit ANY headers other than some other damned model number he gave me, that costs 300 bucks! But you guys sure that the y-pipe will fit? Can I please have a p/n?
Thanx for clearing that up about the "Chevy Aluminum heads" though

Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

^Actually, I was looking in jegs' magazine, and found this part number: 500-17470
Says it fits 500-68470. So.. I guess that the jegs rep was full of ****
