Indeed, I did read that. But the *other* pair of headers, right below it (they are mid-length I believe..) says it only works with aluminum heads (I think that is how it is meant to be interpreted..).

yeah right...its gonna be a hassle. It took 8 hours for me to get mine in yesterday. They arent the same brand, but they are shorties. The pass side went in OK, but the drive side...ahh...we had to take the motor mount out and jack the motor up, then we had to pry on the motor mount with a pry bar and then beat the header into place. We also had to loosen up the oil cooler to try to move it out of the way, but i think thats just an L98 option. We also did this on a lift, if your thinking about trying to do it on jackstands, forget it.

Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

Actually, the engine is already out. Before I put it in I am putting the headers on. *That* part will be easy. What I mean is will p/n- 500-68460 fit in w/out me having to REALLY rip apart my engine bay, change my exhaust around COMPLETELY, etc.
And is p/n- 500-68460 long tubes or no?

Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

oh ok, I didnt know the motor was out. Well the way I read it they are long tubes, because the others actually say they are shorties. I think your gonna have to change your exhaust up alot. Unless you plan on running a dual exhaust your gonna have to get someone to custom fab a Y-pipe for it, and then ground clearance is gonna suck. BUT thats just my opinion, ive been wrong before and i could be wrong this time too. Be a little creative with it and see what happens.

Well if you have owned a 3rd gen car for any lenght of time, you should know there is no such thing as a" bolt" in "or direct fit". Always more work then expected.

Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

You'll be better off placeing the headers in the engine bay and then drop the engine in,seems to be the best way to do it. As 87DJP2001 said there is never a direct bolt-in,but if you expect afew problems they should be easy to soulve.

Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

i see some slight differences....I guess I was wrong, i didnt think they would make a y-pipe for long tubes....

Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

well, I believe to the best of my understanding anyhow, that the shorties will NOT fit unless you have aluminum heads The website says: "Will fit with angle plug heads (Chevy aluminum only)"
iroct- i will put the headers in the bay, then drop the engine in. THanx for the advice

Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

You will need a custom y-pipe for those LT's, and don't plan on lowering the car.

Phantom - do you have any pics of your headers off the car? I bought a set of LT's and I'm not sure what kind they are. I may be looking to sell them, but I want to know what they are for sure first.

Re: These headers a direct bolt-in?

^So which model from the website I provided are shorty.. the one right under the one w/ the model number I gave you guys? Does it say I need aluminum heads for the headers to fit, or what? I dont comprehend it too well, lol..
The car sits fairly high stock, you sure that they (the LT's) will hang low enough to the point where I cant lower it?
Will shorties make basically the same power as LT's on my 305?
(Does hedman even have mid-length headers on that site I gave?)

The shorties are the ones that actually say they are.
