TH700r4 HELP!!!!

I am going to have my 1986 th700r4 rebuilt before i put it back in my car and I was woundering some lil things i could do to Make it hold up well to some abuse and Shift fast w/o spending tons of money. The guy doing it said He will put a transgo dhift kit in it with kevlar bands and then just rebuild it for $750 that is the best i can find There was a guy that i was gonna have do it For $950 and he said somehting about a corvette servo, A new chell of some sort and thats was about it but i have a friend that had his done by him and it was really nice but the 950 dosent include a tourque converter. I dont know what ta do i guess teh 750 job will do fine since im only gonna be pushing about 240 horses.

If your friends get the 700R4 rebuilt at the local tranny shop, do realize that all they are getting is a rebuild back to stock. I babied my freshly rebuilt GM tranny for 6 months behind my 383 before it died. After that, I had the people at www.rosslertrans.com rebuild by tranny and it lasted for 3.5 years with me beating on it several times a day. That car was driven all year round except when there was more than 2 inches of snow. Those people are recommeded and used by Lingenfelter for his trannys so I doubt that they would make that bad a product. You remove your tranny and ship it to them and they rebuild it better than it was before. You get to tell them where you want the shift point at and also if you want it to shift hard all the time, hard at wot and softer at anything else or just plain soft all the time.

If that is what you are going to do, why not modify the tranny? Rossler will make it stronger than it was, shift at 6000 rpm, etc. At the quarter mile, you will be more consistant.

If your going to rebuild a 700r4 look for an '88 or later they have the extra oil ways and are a sturdier trans most Pro built trannys use the later cases' because of this. Don't use your '86 for anything ,but a trade- in.
