TH350 install?

Alright, my friends 700r4 has about had it. It's got about 125,000 miles on it now and its starting to show. He pretty much has his mind set on a new th350 w/ shift kit. My question is...If a shop installs it, will they run into any problems (ie. will the mounts need to be moved/ new mounts bought?) or anything that my friend needs to buy so the tranny will bolt right up?

Thanks guys/gals.

It requires a different crossmember and driveshaft, although I can't remember if the TH350 is shorter or longer than the700-R4.

b/m30299 is the 700r4 to th350 conversion kit.

you will need a th350 with the 9" tailshaft. of would need to get a driveshaft about 3" longer. or can get a driveshaft out of an 82 camaro with the th200 in it.

I've gone through 2 700-R4's in my 86 Z-28. In both trans. 2nd and 4th gear were stripped so I bought a B&M 350 turbo with heavy duty gears and a stage 2 B&M shift kit from Summit ($950). I had to get the changeover kit (summit) and have my driveshaft extended 2 1/2 inches. It working great for me. The only things you have to deal with is:

1) rear end issues, I wind out at 110mph vs. 140+ with the 700-R4. I'm changing from 2:73 to 3:73

2) crossmember and bushings. My shift kit kicks so hard that it shakes all my crossmember bolts and bushings loose. Anything past 3000rpm in first will have me sideways when I hit second!!

You have to understand that with the stock rear your gonna have a quarter car ,but it's sooooo worth it until you get at least 3:73 or better.

Dude I hate to break it to ya but going from 2.73's to 3.73's is goint to take a substantial amount OFF your top speed, not add to it. If 2.73's makes it a quarter car, then 3.73's will turn it into an eighth-mile car. You're gonna top out at like 90.

why did changing transmissions drop your top speed so much? I know it doesn't have overdrive, but my overdrive doesn't pull much anyway. And 3.37's are going to kill top speed even worse.
