Temp gauge going buzzerk!

Temp gauge going buzzerk!

On my way home yesterday from getting my car dyno'ed...the temp gauge was fine..then all of a sudden it started spiking from bottom to top pegging out.....and was act crazy...just going buzzerk.....and it wouldnt stop.....what could it be? the gauge, temp sensor?

what? why would it do that?

what broke?

well, my radiator went out on my v6 and it started stalling, then the temp guage would rise and fall with ease
that might have something to do with it
of course, there was only a crack in the radiator but i needed a whole new one anyways
check for any coolant leaks is my advice

Either the wire is loose, or the sending unit is going bad...

Get a friend to sit in the car and move the wire around a bit...see if it jumps around. (with the ignition on, or running)

If nothing happens its probably the sensor.

O BTW the sensor is located on the drivers side cylinder head.

I found it, it was the freakin clip came off the sensor and sat on my header and melted....damnit!...I fixed it though..

more fun driving than working on it. If I wanted to work on it all the time I'd have gotten a Fix Or Repair Daily car.
