T-56 swap costs?
Hey all, I've been saving up for a while as I'm wanting to replace my current A4 with a T-56. I'm just curious about two things:
1) How much are '94-'97 T-56s going for where you live?
2) For those who have done this swap, what kind of total cost did you run into? (After everything was all added up.)
Thanks in advance!

Re: T-56 swap costs?
1000-1300 for a decent T56
I got mine with 32k on it for 1200.
Hydraulics - 70-80 used...150 new
Swap Crossmember - 115 from Spohn
Clutch - 50 used
shifter - I got a Hurst for 45 used, stocker is about 10 bucks used
flywheel - 30 used
pedals are generally 30-50 used
make sure you get all the bolts!!!!!
People are selling whole conversion set ups for 1500ish, with that you can have it in the car, usually all you need is the crossmember. You gotta think of what you're going to do with the speedometer if you have a mechanical driven speedo, you can get an electronic gauge or you get the Dakota Digital SGI-5 pulse converter box which converts an electric signal to mechanical. You can get that for 90 bucks at their site. Hope that helps.

Re: T-56 swap costs?
I payed 700 for a 45k t56 around here with a lifetime warranty. Greenleaf auto is awesome.
Aside from the crossmember try and get everything from the same car. Just makes things easier. 4thgen pedals will work in thirdgens (you can either cut off the gas pedal or get rid of your stock one). The 4thgens have one whole assembly and thirdgens split the gas from the brake/clutch assembly.
I'd advise against wasting money on a used clutch. If you want to skimp, just get a Schucks/Kragen/Checker/Autozone/pepboys cheapo.
As for the dakota box, it only works if your speedo is already an electronic one. If it's mechanical there are boxes that mate to those. I've never researched those however. What year car? What model?
I think I might have spent around 1200-300 with all the little crap. Like I said, try to get everything from the same car.

Re: T-56 swap costs?
I did this swap about 5 years ago when it was still farily uncommon. I spent about $2300 altogether, and that's doing it right with a nice shifter, good clutch, new hydros, etc. T-56 prices have come down a bit since then....you should easily be able to do the whole swap for under $2k.
I typically see them around 1500, with the bellhousing and stock shifter, but not much else.
