NO,I meant you might need clearance work done to the heads if 1.6's are used. The last paragraph in the preveious artical talked about heavier springs and push rods,(even with stock push rods)the openings for the rods may need to be relieved or they could bind.

As stated before the larger TB will do nothing for you. An aftermarket MAF will not be worth the money at this point. If you don't have exhaust already do that first. You will notice a big difference. Then start with some K&Ns either drop in replacements or a cone style with a 3 inch tube over to the fender well depending on how your stock set up is. Some ignition mods like the MSD coil, cap, rotor, wires, and HEI module won't set you back much either and will help out now that you are getting more air in and out of the engine. The air foil may or may not make a difference. I have one and can't tell a difference on my car with cold air intake and exhaust. Good Luck!

a piece of aluminum or sometimes plastic I guess that goes directly on the front of the throttle body to smooth out turbulance in the air coming in.

Don't worry about it,you don't need/want one! They only help at WOT and then very little, not worth the money unless someone has one they are going toss forget about it.

Oh, that is surprising everyone in this thread is saying they do nothing because every other time I hear people talking baout them, they only say good things abou them. Not to mention that near EVERYONE that mods their car has one! (well, on their TPI cars I believe..)

Yep! Your right, that's true I even have one in my old 48mm TB. That doesn't mean that it's worth $50 and that it even works(it does help at WOT)and if it does what kind of gain, not the 10hp claimed. I would not buy one today knowing that they don't work,I bought mine when they first came out and everybody had to have one. Besides spending the money on something more important, and when the time comes buy a 52mmTB (most after market TB's have them built-in)then you'll have one.
