Steering Coloum replacment, how difficult?
Well, how difficult is it to replace the steering colomn? I had mine go loose not that long ago, took it appart, tightened those freeking inverse torx bolts, then put it all back together, everything worked except the steering wheel never locked when parked and my clutster/horn lights kept blowing (this is AFTER I pressed the horn button, then the fuse just kept blowing). So I took the entire POS appart again, found out that the locking rod hole in the colomn where the thing goes through if freeking broken, FINE. I tried 10 more fuses as I went along, as stuff got pulled appart and disconnected, I kept trying, kept blowing. Now, the two big wiring harness connectors are dissconected, the entire colomn is appart down to the tilt and the fuse is STILL FREEKING BLOWING!!! I don't know what it could be. Plus, the fact that the locking rod hole is broken and that entire assembly is wabbly where the switch is, I am affraid I am going to need a new colomn. So, please tell me its not that big of a deal to take it out and put a new one in 'cause I can't handle this crap anymore. Thanks guys!

its not that big of a deal really. taking the column apart is harder then replacing it. the biggest thing is make sure you get a column w/the right conn. on it. as in the wires are same color and go to the same things. I know 85 and 86 interchange. ask me how i know.

The column swap is a piece of cake as long as you're lucky enough to find one with the exact same accessories (delay wiper, blah blah blah) and if you have the new ignition key.
If the options are different or you plan on keeping your original key, you're still going to have to tear apart the column.
But as for the actual swap, it's 2 bolts under the dash, a couple at the firewall, 1 on the rod under the hood and the wire plug. That's pretty much it.
