Starting Problem

Well I just finished putting an 88 305 into my 85 iroc. Well the problem is it will start but only run for a few seconds then quit. The fuel pump runs abnormally long but it has good pressure, I checked it with a gauge. Replaced the filter too. Spark is good, I used a spark tester and a timing light. The motor is in time.

It seems to quit running when the cold start injector stops spraying. I removed all the other injectors and it does the same exact thing. But when I only remove the cold-start there is nothing at all. So basically I'm trying to figure out why won't the other injectors spray?

Re: Starting Problem

Well today I pulled up the fuel rail and the injectors weren't spraying, only the cold start. So I switched the connecter from the cold-start to another injector turned the engine over and that injector sprayed. Why aren't the injectors getting the signal to fire?

Re: Starting Problem

the cold start injector has a thermo time switch, it is not controlled by the pcm at all, your problem is not related to the cold start injector

u need to check to see if the computer is recieving all the signals it needs to properly fire the injectors, i.e. ECT, MAF, IAT, TPS, and distributor reference signal

check if the wiring for the 4 sensors and your distributor are all hooked up to the proper harness going to your computer and the computer is getting power

Re: Starting Problem

I did happen to put a small cap hei into my car at the same time as this. But I matched up wires A,B,C,D from the old connector to the new. How do i check to see if the computer is recieving all the signals? And what is the ECT?

Re: Starting Problem

Well it was the 4 pin connector on the distributor. Got it started. Thanks
