Started the install on my HSR

Like it says, I finally popped and got me a manifold. I bought it used from a guy here in town with a sunset orange 91 Z and he had painted the intake to match. At first I didnt think it would look good because my cars black, but I got the base in and so far, im happy. HOWEVER, this install is a pain in the butt! Mostly because everything I have is wrong, we keep running into parts and such that i need and so we have to stop, go get the parts, and then start again. I also had a NASTY accident involving hot antifreeze and my left shoulder (im sure you can figure that out) We broke 3 craftsman torx bits on the front torx on the base...i hate those bits...Everything Ive read says you have to cut the hood to clear the plenum, but as of now it looks like it will fit. I only have the base in, but its shorter than the distributor without the cap on. So maybe ill get lucky on that one. Anyway, my point is, if your thinking of doing this, its better to buy new and get EVERYTHING, than buy used and try to piece it together yourself...

If the manifold was cheap I don't mind piecing things together.

I know of a 91 formula that didn't have to cut the hood up at all. (even the bracing). However, my 91 TA did need the bracing trimmed.

Good luck, you'll love being able to rev past 4500 now.

Even new, you still need to stop and go to the parts store since the new intake doesn't have the fuel line adaptors, the correct vacuum fittings, etc...
It took me the whole day to remove the TPI, install the HSR, get the misc parts (made 4 parts store runs), but in the end it looks killer.

Re: Started the install on my HSR

I finished tonight, but it rained so i didnt get a chance to play. Our track isnt open tomorrow night and i leave for college the 28th so i dont think im getting any track times PLUS the owners sold our track so after this year were pretty sure its farm land. now our closest track is 2 hours away...I didnt have to cut the hood, so i was happy about that. But my car does some wierd stuff now, i dont want to get into details on it though, its been a long day...
