Stalling while stopped in drive

I have an '88 305 fuel injected Iroc Convertible w/ auto tranny.
I just bought it about 2 or so weeks ago, and I dont really know much about it. I went out one night and had it in regular drive, and while stopped it would stall out. Its a really clean car with low milage (54k), but it obviously needs some adjustments. It seems to run fine in Overdrive, but it feels like its idling high, fighting the brakes and such when stopped. I'm not really sure how high its idling because the RPM gauge is broken. If anyone had a similiar problem like this and might know a solution, please let me know, Thanks.

If its cutting off when you stop it doesnt sound like its idling too high

By fighting the brakes do you mean it feels like you dont have power brakes or something. If so its probably a vacum leak. Open your hood while the motor is running and see if you can hear a wistling.

Ack, sorry.. Yeah, Was around 3am when I wrote that, guess I should've read it before I submited it. Car seems to have mood swings.. Like when I first start it, it'll idle high (after its been warmed up), untill put in gear, then it'll get extremely low untill sometimes it feels like its stalled out when stopped after driving about 1/2+ mile @ 45mph+, after driving about 30+ miles it'll idle extremely high, to the point where it almost doesnt want to stop in fast braking situations. And it feels like if I did actually slam on the brake it'll feel like it'll stall, which I havent done/hasnt happened. Its close to impossible to actually test things with all the drivers on the road now days. Or cops thinking i'm drunk or something. (which is my luck) Oh, yeah.. and the brakes are good. I guess I should attempt to do some tests before freaking out.
Or maybe I'm just paranoid. I upgraded from a 91 RS (v6) to this.
Totally different car.
So.. This is an Iroc, huh?

Mine did the same thing when I added my cam. I assumed it was because the car was sucking too much vaccum. But with your stock set-up it wouldnt be cam related. Check and see if the com p is throwing any codes and check for vacuum leaks

All right, I'll try that.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Sounds like someone needs to clean the TB and IAC and then reset the idle and TPS voltage.
