throttle body bypass? resistor chip?
throttle body bypass? resistor chip?
throttle body bypass?? Is it worth it?noticable gains? any negative sides? and the so called 20 hp 5 cent resistor chip?
do that thing work at all? will it hurt anything?
thanks for the help !

Will you feel anything no ........
I think this is a mod that does little help to an unmodded car. However if you have lots of mods like cam, heads, intake and ported, plished and matched then it could help. But again not much.
and the so called 20 hp 5 cent resistor chip?
the resistor chip you are talking about must be the IAT sensor trick. fooling the computer into thinking the incoming air is colder.
well...it's not worth 20hp that's for sure....maybe 0.20 hp
most guys i've talked to have noticed a bit crisper throttle response, but that is pretty subjective.
if you wanted to do something more logical i would relocate the sensor to the intake tract, which prevents the sensor from gettiing heat soaked from the engine and it will give a more realistic reading of the incoming air temperature.
just remove the sensor, plug the hole, extend the wires and drill a new hole in the intake near the MAF
tbb is a good mod, i can't see any downsides to it. all it was designed for was to help in the warmup process in winter. i had it combined with a 160 stat in my old iroc and drove in near 0 temps in NY without any trouble (took a few extra minutes to warm up but still blew hot air when it did).

The downside is that if you are cruising in the deep of winter, it potentialy could freeze up the butterflies in the TB. Rare but something the GM thought up.
Why bother with the resistor trick? Just to fool the ECM? Why not get the ECM reprogrammed better and be done with it instead of this tricking of the ECM?
