Somebodys got to have an answer for this.......

OK I installed a 58mm TB on the Vette. The stock airtube was rotted out and leaking so I got one of those rubber ones from Ecklers I think it was, well anyway, that thing sucks, after awhile the glue dries out and it splits open. But the stock airtube is too small to fit around the 58mm TB. I would try to make a solid pipe with 2 short rubber hoese like on the CAI kits, but the Mass Air end is round and the TB end is oval, and I have neither the knowlede nor the equipment to figure out how to bend that. So what do you guys do? I can't be the only person running a 58mm TB. So what sollutions have you guys come up with? I am driving across the country in January and am trying to fix all the little problems before I go.

would the bellows from a MAF iroc/z28 work, I know it goes form oval to round for the maf sensor and is big enough for the tb as it has an adjustable hose clamp, just don't use the dual snorkel thing after the maf...it could work

You have me confussed. The outer dimensions of my after market TB(Holley 54mm) were the same as stock, only the throttle plates were different. The reason for going to the "Ecklers" boot is because it's smooth. If you don't like it you shoudl be able to use a stock one.

Can you wrap a string around the TB and see what tubing has the same circumference, then you can squish the tubing in a vise and find a piece rubber hose that will fit over them both.

A 52 mm throttle body has the same outer circumference as a stock 1 but the 58 mm throttle body has a larger outer circumference.
I guess I could heat and stretch a stock bellows, but it just seems to me like it must steal so much horsepower. I can't believe with all of the 58 mm throttle bodys out there that nobody makes an aftermarket bellows for this application?
I've never actually measured the diameter of the flange on the mass air flow meter and the throttle body, I always thought that the throttle body had a much bigger outer diameter, but I'll take a look at. Squishing a tube to fit may be a possibility. Thanks

The TB is definitely larger than the MAF. You might try reinforcing the seam on the one from Ecklers. You could sew it, glue a thin piece of rubber over it, cover it with tape, etc.

I think for the mild mods you have the horsepower loss is a moot point...

And I'd measure both TB's to see if they're actually different.

I can't take credit, I saw this I believe in CHP a year or so ago. They had a piece of exhaust tubing, mandrel bent, I believe 3 inch or 3.5 inch, and it squished to the exact size needed.

I'd guess 3.5"

I tried 4" awhile back and it was too big. I bet 3.5" would be perfect. (and I've heard about this before)
