A big block swap would be great, but you need to consider other things. I'm evening considering one after i finish my 88.
1. If you put it in a vert, you're going to have a ton of body flex. It's going to need a stb, sfcs, and definitely some sort of a roll bar to help strenghten the car some more.
2. Legaity. Obviously, its not an OE motor lol. What kind of emissions and inspection laws do you have?
3. Rear end - certainly not going to be able to take any abuse from a big block. You're going to have to run a 12bolt or 9''.
4. Transmission - it's allready been discussed somewhat. When doing a project such as this, your options sort of dwindle. T56, Turbo 400. I know you're looking for an OD tranny- what it comes down to is point #6.
5. Fuel. You're fuel system is certainly going to need to be upgraded. Fuel pump, possibly lines, etc.
6. Ultimate goal? Daily driver? Weekend crusier? Street strip? What you raelly want to do with the car is going to determine how you need to build and set up the car. You cant build a car to run 9's and expect great fuel mileage.
Don't take any of this as a negative post. I'd love to see another BB 3g on the road. Just trying to help get a clear view of what needs to be done. There's definitely more to it then what I've posted, just quick basics.
