Roots type for TPI?

Is there a company that makes a roots type blower for the TPI cars, I like the fact that they sit on top of the engine rather than crowding the braket area. I thought a Magnacharger from lingenfelter might work but im unsure - anyone know, or built one?

Not that I know of. Because when you do a roots type blower your actually doing both intake and blower at the same time. Because you need a special intake to adapt the blower to the heads. As far as the injection part of the TPI, yes you can still use it, with mods.

P.S. Shouldn't this be in the Forced Induction Sect.?

Highly unlikely it would fit under a stock hood, EVEN if it were possible to make somthing like this. I can't picture a way to make a fuel injection manifold fit on a roots blower... :hmm:

Get a Centrifugal SC and be done with it.

A roots blower replaces the intake manifold also, so it wouldnt be TPI anymore. I'm sure Magnacharger makes a roots blower with EFI for regular small blocks. They make one for the LS1s.

Re: Roots type for TPI?

Sorry i was mistaken, I meant is one made for retaining fuel injection for the 3rd generation cars. I saw on the Lingenfelter website that they employ models that fit LSX,LTX, and any OTHER 5.3, 5.7, 6.0 engines...which i naturally assumed included the early style SBC. I was unsure if anyone had attempted to use a magnason charger on their car, or if it could be done - I love the look, sound, gains, and convenience of that style.

the 5.3, 5.7 and 6.09 they mention are LSx based(5.3 and 6.0 are truck motors, 5.7 is the LS1/6)

I do wish somebody would make a nice low profile screw-type similar to what's available on the LS cars with the throttle body opening in the front so that you can retain somewhat standard intake plumbing. Whipple makes one with the throttle body opening at the back, which I suppose is about the best you can get.

whipple is close enough, i dont mind custom plumbing - but does it retain fuel injection and does the hood need to be modified?
