Re: Removing transmission

If the 88 is a 2.8 V6, the tranny bellhousing clutch and flywheel will not work on a V8. The pedals, hydraulics, shifter and console, crossmembers, mounts and driveshaft will.

Re: Removing transmission

For the record, that last time I pulled the 700R4 out of my car it took me exactly 59 minutes from the time the car settled on the jack stands until the transmission was on the floor next to the car. This was when I was getting ready to switch to the T56.

The previous summer I pulled the transmission and swapped in a 2700 RPM torque converter, and the total time from car-up to car-down was about three hours, with no assistant. The trick is the Harborfreight Tools transmission jack for $50, a 9/16 swivel socket, and a three foot long 3/8 socket extension. These are the tools that will make your job easy, especially those top two bell housing bolts, which I pull from the bottom.
