Remember how i said i thought my ecm was going south...

Well the car was feeling sluggish, so i checked the timing and set it back to base for alil trail and error runs and what not. I set it to base...shut it down and plug the wire back in and go to start it back up after 5 mins of sitting. the knock is so bad/loud..that im afraid to even run it...you can hear the knock from like down the block..its like playing a set of drums. messing with the distributor does nothing for it...advance it all the way..retard it all the way...nothing. Its done this once before...but it was just really retarded and made the same noise but not quite as loud. I just shut it down and advanced it a bit and it ran fine again. I changed out the ignition control module after that had happened just figuring it maybe be going possibly bad. But now idk what the hell happened. Could the ecm finally have given out? I'm thinking this just because

1. the car set for a year with no battery and then i just recently got it running again and whatever. Ive heard of guys letting the car sit for awhile and then connecting the battery again and there ecu's are fried.

2. I didnt have a winshield and rain had gotten inside the car and there were some dropelets on the ecm casing. But there was like a puddle in the dashboard where i access the ecm...there was like a pool of water on that panel.

3. The car did this before but i was able to fix it...early sign of the ecm giving up?

sure it isn't a rod knock?
The way you described the car being stored it may may require alot of work to bring it back to life. NEVER store a car outside in the weather without a windshield glued down it is there to protect the inside.
Sounds as if you may have other issues then just an ecm.
