I need to replace the 135,000 mile 305 in my 1991 RS, and I have this crazy idea that I can find a used Cadillac V8 and have it installed, hopefully one from an Escalade. Does anyone know if it will fit and mate up to the 700R4 transmission? I'll probably end up using whatever is available, practical and above all, affordable but the idea of a Cadillac engine in a ragged old Camaro seems cool to me.

you can do a GEN III swap, LS1 style based motor, basicly every GM V8 after 2000 I think but they aren't cheap, and won't bolt to a tranny from a GEN I or GEN II

 

wow, 135k and replacement? Mine is still running strong with 189k
