Post rearend tech.

Does anyone know which 3rd. gen. camaro rearend is the best? I have a 84 Z-28 5.0 H.O. with a 383 stroker and a 4L60 trans. but my rearend is a whimpy 7.5 10 bolt.I heard that a 88 up IROC rearend was the best because it has a 7 5/8 ring gear and 28 spline axles, oppossed to the 7 1/2 ring gear and 26 spline axles in my 84 rearend. Is that true? I would appreciate any info on this matter, thankz *Robin*

The 9 bolt is stronger than the 10 bolt but the 10 bolt can be beefed up to take a lot of abuse. I was running high 11's on a 10 bolt before finally switching to a ford 9".

The 10 bolt didn't get the 28 spline axles until 1990. 7 5/8" gears came around 86 or 87.

Athough it is a bit bigger, the 7 5/8" ring gear isn't much different from the 7 1/2". Both are interchangable on the same carrier.
