Would a Ram Jet fit under a stock hood?

Re: question about Ram jets

it would be close...it looks abotu the same size as the HSR...I would get a 2.5 or 3 inch cowl just to be sure...

Thanks thats the problem on this end I want my car to look stock on the out side until you open up the hood. If I have to go with a non stock hood then I will keep the HSR & just try to rebuild my engine or get a ZZ4 & transfer the HSR on to it.

From what I've heard, you must cut out some of the hood's cross-bracing to get the ram jet fuel injection unit to fit nicely when the hood is closed.

GM shows a yellow RamJet 3rd gen Camaro at different meets and they have the stock hood on it, so it can be done.

I dont think that would work on my car since the car is a dragracer. You start cutting away cross bracing & they dont allow you to race it.

I wouldn't think that hood mods would make much difference to the NHRA. It doesn't affect the strength of the car as a whole. If so, just find a fibreglass factory hood and race it that way. It will still be totally stock

Re: question about Ram jets

GM has a 3rd gen Camaro with a Ram Jet motor they use for promotional stuff. It uses a stock hood. GMHTP ran a feature on it a year or so ago.

Same here. The GM yellow car had one with a flat rs hood and I don't remember any pics of a hacked up hood.

Goodluck! My plan one day was also a ramjet...ah well
