Question About Computer

Car is an 87 Z28 with an LG4. Computer was ditched since the car was converted to mechanical carb. Question is, im looking for a computer to control tq converter lockup only. Could I get one from any v8 3rd gen that had a 700R4 or do I need to find a LG4 computer?

Any computer that interchanges with an 87 Camaro computer will work (there is an interchange guide at thirdgen.org). You would need the PROM for your application.

But that's a lot of rigamarole just to lock up the converter. Why don't you check out what tranny companies offer to perform the funtion for lockup tranny swaps to earlier iron.

Check with the people I use for my ERPOM (www.fasterproms.com) but I don't know. If you have the ECM hooked up to the tranny only, how would it know when to kick in the lockup since it does not get feedback from the rest of the engine about RPM, speed, TPS angle, etc?

Don't forget to tell us how it all went down. I am personally curious.
