Question about the 5L TPI - LB9
Question about the 5L TPI - LB9
I'm 99% sure i'm going with a 94 LT1 but just incase i change my mind.. I'll ask this question. How modable is the LB9? Does it take well to F/I? How about Bolt-ons? Thanks guys
well im the owner of a 91 G92 LB9...and that is the 305 5 speed with 3.42 gears....the regular cars came with 3.08's
with that aside, you are FAAAAAARRRRR ahead going with the LT1..i will defend that little 305 till the end, but experiance has taught me that nothing replaces BORE but BORE...sure they can be made fast REALLY fast, i know 5 or 6 guys off the top of my head that would absolutly embarress 80% of the 350s out there but the simple fact is youll be faster with more motor with the same amount of money...
My car ran consistant 14.1's and 2's@96...not quite the power of an LT1, but they have to CHASE ME down
....
Bottom line is go for the LT1...a little head work and a cam and your running 115...not to shabby

Yeah, go with the LT1.
LB9 is FI so it takes well to it.
like MY91Y84, I got my 305 TPI to run! I wasn't able to get it to the track or dyno, but based on mods I did and from previous slipped times, I'd estimate a very very low 14 or high 13 second pass, and I didn't do too much (just bolt ons). With the 305 you have to be careful what year you get because it has many years with a terrible cam for it. There are a few years with a good cam in it and that makes a huge difference.
Ask away with the questions.
