putting the iroc-z sideways

i rember 2 years ago i drove my friends 3.1 v6 camaro and i hit the gas hard and the rear kicked out a bit. i also did the same on my bosses 87 iroc-z with a 305. i have the exact same car with probably the 3.42 exact same gears and i cant get it sideways when i punch it. i get it sideways around a turn and when i hit around 3 grand from a dead stop my tires break loose and go nuts for a bit. but i cant get it to kick out. does posi track play a role in this because the v6 had no posi and when i burned out i left one tire mark . on mine i leave to nice even flush tire marks

Posi make's it a lot easier, no doubt. Here's my procedure to kicking the 'ol rear out:

Pull up to stop sign, traffic light, etc
Start going forward kind of slowly
As floor the throttle, turn the wheel hard!
Straighten up
Repeat as necessary

Works every time. Oh yeah, I've got an open rear. It works best going to the left, when I go right it usually only works if there's some water on the ground.

LOL, I am sorry man but that particular method of fish tailing usually ends up looking seriously geeky. It seems that the only people who think it looks cool cranking the wheel to try and force a slide, are the people who are doing it. I just looks down right dumb from the outside.
I would suggest a nice tight posi unit, or if you already have one, get the clutch packs replaced. If you have a healthy posi, your car should almost instantly kick sideways when dropping a standard.

Come on man!
#1 - I try to do it when no one is around to be safe so what it looks like doesn't mean anything to me.

#2 - I don't have a posi yet. Is there any other way to do it with an open rear and like 150rwhp?

Posi plays a huge role. If both tires don't spin, then you need enough momentum on the rearend to actually SLIDE the tires over the pavement. It's much easier when both tires are already spinning.

I could kick it out from a 25mph roll with the TPI setup I had.
I was going to lite um up bigtime in that vid but there was a truck behind me. Dude gave me a dirty look when I was turning around.

Having higher numbered gears helps out too.

Mine dose it at WOT anywhere from a stop up to 25. With any amount of rain it will spin 180 quicker than you can blink.

It must be your posi.

Is your motor just a stock L98 or do you have any mods? I'm just curious.

It's funny that some people wish their cars would get sideways. I wish i could get on it in first on the street without going sideways .
