Problem
OK as of here recently i have had some valves tapping, so i pulled my alve covers today and tried adjusting the rockers with the motor running, i got all of them to stop tapping and then one started tapping agin. so i turned it alittle more and i would stop tapping for like 2 sconds then it would start again. also on the one that is tapping the pushrod wasn't spinning like the rest of them were. is this a lifter that has collapsed? or is it a lobe going down on my cam?

If you have a roller cam, there is no adjustment. Make sure all tension is off the particular rocker and then you tighten it till it drags when you try spin the pushrod. Next you turn it a half turn. Beyond this, you will have to remove the manifold and check the lifter. IF YOU HAVE TO CHANGE ONE, CHANGE ALL. Don't cheap out. You are having an older car so if one goes bad, chances are another is on the way.

check the top of the valves, where the rocker meets them, my step dad, had a rebuilt 454 in his 1 ton, and a couple months later, it started to chew up the cheesy cheap valves it came with. it was less than a 1/16th of an inch from dropping a couple of the valves before the mechanics found the problem
