Power steering pulley removal?

How do I remove the power steering pulley? I tried using a puller, but the groove started bending so I quit while I was ahead. I need to find a way to get it off to mount my pulley on to it for my supercharger, and to measure for the bracket I'm going to mount on the p/s bracket.

Yea, I use the right tool for the job, usually does it without me having to create some new phrase.

It's like $1 anyways to rent from Autozone. They charge in full for the tool, but they refund all but $1 I think when you take it back, or all of it, I don't remember.

A power steering pulley puller is a specialized tool that consists of a ball-bearing behind a rotating center, a screw, and a beefy half-clamshell that fits around the pulley in that groove. You back off the screw, install the steel clamshell onto the groove, then turn in the screw until the rotating center smacks up against the power steering pump driveshaft. Then you keep turning and the puller slowly extracts the pulley from the shaft.

To install the pulley also requires a specialized tool. It looks like a miniature harmonic balancer installation tool, but with torrington thrust bearings on the drive faces.

I've got one of each, and they cost me about a hundred bucks apiece, about fifteen years ago. I hope you can rent them!
