Power steering help

I just got the big block in my 3rd gen and all the bugs worked out. How hard is it to put a manual steering box in. What one could i use and how much is it.....

Never done a 3rd Gen. but when I did my 71(from manual to power) it required the box, pitman arm, and relay rod.

Just curious why go manual, there are several after market power units out there.

Hey 84,

Check out the new chevy high performance, they did a article on swapping to a manual box in a third gen, they used a cast iron flamming river but it looks like a s-10 manaul to me.any 83-92 s-10 should work for ya....I robbed a 4 cyl s-10 power steering pump with a remote resiviour to keep the assist after I dropped in the RAT! fits nice had a 4 inch pulley so it clears the steering gear. That conversion looks like it save 20 -25 pounds, you run skinney front runners? cause turning some 245/ 50 will be hell on you and the column.
