Positive Traction Differential

Alright, I know my '92 RS has a 2series carrier.....if I got a 3series differential to go in the rear-end what all would have to be changed? or would it go right in....? Also, I'm wanting to put 3.42s in while i'm at it.

well, if you want to change the gears also, just get the gears in the same series(2 or 3) as the carrier,

also, you have 28 spline axles, the 7.5 and 7.65 size gears are the same, and if you have no idea how to install gears, pay someone to,

you will need an install/overhaul kit , which comes w/bearings, seals, shims and marking comcound. some also come with the pinoin nut and crush sleeve

Get the 3 series carrier and change the gears to a 3 series gear while you are at it and let it be. Auburn makes a good posi. Richmond Gears are a little noisy especially if you don't set them up right. They have to be set to their specs and not the way the book (GM) says to do it.
