Part number needed, 3rd brake light
Part number needed, 3rd brake light
I need the part number for the bulbs of the 3rd spoiler mounted brake light in a 87 camaro. Has anyone replaced these bulbs? If so, where did you purchase the replacement and what part #? No one around town has a acceptable replacement. I would also consider purchasing a working assembly if someone is parting out a car.
Go to Radioshack with a sample bulb and ask for a 20amp two prong halogen (don't ask for a tail light bulb
) they cost about $1.99 ea + tax. Do a search for the part number if you think you need it. The GM dealers want $14.00 a piece for these, so don't go there or buy a new aasembly.

Well the Radio Shack bulbs dont work. It looks like I've got connection issue. No junk yard seems to have the assembly, so I'm probably just going to buy a LED setup somewhere and use it as a 3rd light to pass inspection and then remove it.

The Radioshack bulbs do work. I would suggest that you disconnect the assembly and try cleaning the base of corrosion and also check the plug wiring for a loose connection. And are you sure about that NAPA bulb, never heard that they carried that type?? Remenber you need a 12V 20amp halogen type.

Rare for all five to be out at the same time, but it could happen.
Try one CORRECT bulb in the all (5) sockets to see if the base is working.
