Overkill?

I am in need of a new fuel pump and I was just gonna wing it and deal with a parts store fuel pump until later on...until I actually began taking apart half of the rear end of my car. I have plans to build a very stout Stealthrammed engine with a stronger tranny/higher stall, etc, but this won't all happen within the next few weeks, months or prolly even years for that matter. I don't want to have to go through this again if I can avoid it. I like the looks of the Racetronix Fuel System (here. It includes a 255lph fuel pump. I know this is overkill for the engine as it is, but having this much more than I need until I get to that point will not affect anything will it?...Also, any opinions on the system for their applications?? Is it a direct/easy swap? Thanks.

Re: Overkill?

The only time it becomes overkill is when you start to outrun the ability of the fuel pressure regulator and return line to send the UNneeded fuel back to the tank during times of low fuel demand (idling, light throttle). You'll need a bigger pump than that to outrun the stock FP regulator and return lines.

Did something similar with a BIG Holley pump and it barely made a difference in idle fuel pressure (maybe 1 PSI higher) but there was no way the engine would outrun the fuel pump in the upper RPMs like it did using the stock pump alone.

A good fuel pump system is somewhat like having an extra insurance policy on your motor.
