Re: overheating still not fixed!!!!!

I ended up changing the radiator (found a crack) and I put in an after market fan switch that read temp next to the rad. Actually I shoved it between the fins on the rad near the tank where there was a spot. Works great at about 10 degrees over the normal temp. It is adjustable. Got it at Autozone for $17. Done deal - cools great.

Re: overheating still not fixed!!!!!

I kinda went back and read some of your earlier posts and you never answered if you actually tested the fan motors themselves to see if they worked. You can do this by unpluggtng the motors and jumping to the battery wiyh a couple of wires. It doesen't make any differance which way you jump them to test, you are only interested in if they turn. If you do this and the motors do not turn, you'll need new ones,if they do in all probability it is the fan relay, which my book shows at the driverside firewall next to the brake mastercylinder and the fender there should be two relays (they look the same)just replace both of them they'er cheap. One more thing that you didn't answer is that you DO HAVEthe plastic spoiler that hangs down under the radiator?

Then that is your problem the relay is bad or it is not getting power to it from the switch side.

Re: overheating still not fixed!!!!!

I believe you want to test the Dk GRN/Wht wire to see if it gets power to the relay. If you unplug the relay and look at the posts you will see letters and they corraspond with the schematic that is on the top of the relay, you want posts "D" and "F" one side goes to the fan switch the other goes to power.

Re: overheating still not fixed!!!!!

camaro boy,not to sound like a jag,(which i am)but you said you didnt want to waste your money bringing it to a shop, but from all i read it kinda sounds like you wasted a ton of money on parts you didnt need????????????this is kinda my pet peev with these forums, while they can be a good source of info, folk come here with a problem such as yours and think it can be diagnosed like that over the net, sight unseen.as youve just seen you have been given many a fix but nothing has helped you yet..it kinda sounded like you were in over your head to start, whenever you get like that, let someone who knows handle it,even if it cost you money, youll save in the long run...i mean just swapping parts out till you find the one that is bad is kinda like pissing into the wind...useless

Re: overheating still not fixed!!!!!

yeah but really.. u have to start somewhere.. this last summer i knew nothing about cars and i swapped out my tranny to a manual.. so its all a learning process and accually to tell you the truth realy i hope you never say this to anyone because everyone learns different ways.. one day ill end up finding the problem.. and the whole point of the board really is to help other people.. not the put them down.. but u know what.. you are most prolly right i should of let someone else handle it.. but in the end ill be the one saying money when the same problem comes up again.. but as i said i wanted to try it... btw i get all my parts from a scrap yard.. so really no cost at all... i think i paid 5 dollars for everything in total.. but to end it.. you were right.. but i am learning
