Overheat after new pump, radiator AND hypertech switch...:(
Today I installed my new aluminum water pump, radiator, AND Hypertech colling fan switch (on at 210 off at 180). And now my temp gauge is pegged and won't go down! What could of happened, or gone wrong? As far as I know everything went OK. Right now I only have 100% water, tomorrow I will drain and put the correct mixture in. Is there anything special I should do with a new cooling system? I drove it about 30 miles with the temp pegged and nothing was smoking or EXTREME heat. The temp gauge went from 100 to 300 (this is the stock gauge) in like 1 second. And when I turn on the car after it is cool, it is stuck there. I think maybe something happened with the temp sender. Where exactly is it located? The fan never came on so my guess is that the temp never made it past 210. Anything from you guys? Thanks

I drove it this morning to work (about 4 miles) and the gauge didn't even budge, it stayed on 100, but I don't think 4 miles is enough to tell. Today I will fill it with proper mixture and see what happens.

Actually it sounds more like there was air in the system and it may have not been properly 'burped'. When filling the radiator, it is best to fill it all the way up and then start the engine. With cap off, keep an eye on the level of the coolant and keep topping it off as it goes down. You must keep doing this until the thermostat opens. This is what it sounds like from what you described. If the coolant level was low this morning when you drove it after reading more normally, this is definitely what it was.
I had a problem similiar to this - I replaced the coolant sensor. It is the sensor on the top of the engine (easier to get to than the fan switch).
Not only did that solve my overheating problem (after I had done everything you have) but my temp gauge worked...maybe the temp gauge operates of this sensor signal - I don't know but it solved the problem!

i'M A dumba$$ AGAIN!!!!
I installed the fan switch in the temp gauge sender's place. So now I took it out and put the temp unit back in. And installed the fan switch in the passenger side between the last two cylinders. It won't even get above 18 now WWAAAAHHHHOOOOOO
PS, It was a PAIN IN THE **** to install the fan switch, let me say it again PITA!!!!!!
