OIL Leak, PLEASE READ

I have an 83 Z28 with a 70s SBC 350, TH350, Holly 650DP,....

I have been having a leak problem .

I replaced the header gaskets and the valve cover gaskets.
It doesnt seem like its spraying up to the top when I have the engine running and i look in the engine bay for the leak, but it seems like its being sprayed on the bottom, all over the oil pan, exhaust pipes,...

I dont think that its the head gaskets.
It could be the rear main seal, but I dont want to pull the motor to check.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How about using engine cleaner on the entire motor and make sure it is clean. Dump some oil dye in and drive it a little and see what appears with a black light.

Last time i checked, fuel pumps arent supposed to have oil in them... Anyway, I am gonna clean the engine up and see where its coming from.

Do you have an oil cooler? I would check the lines.

Mechanical fuel pumps mount to the block and have oil present behind them to lubricate the drive rod...if the mounting plate cracked or the gasket broke it would leak oil on the pan and blow back to the exhaust. Another possibility is the timing cover seal. Check the BACK of the harmonic balancer...if it's coated with oil then the timing cover seal is leaking. Personally I doubt it's the rear main seal...a bad rear main generally tends to coat the torque converter and tranny pan the worst, with a little oil on the oilpan and exhaust.

Hope this helps.
