Oil Guage locked between 375-400
Well if it's not the 3 oil leaks, or the mysterious power drainage.. it's a problematic Oil gauge problem. Sigh!
Yesterday when I started the car I noticed the Oil Gauge was between 375-400 (Usually it's 200, and 400 is the MAX on the gauge!).
While I'm driving it never went below 300. Took to mechanic and they said it was the Oil Pressure sending unit. They replaced it, and it never fixed it. They Then took it in again, checked the sending unit, replaced again and still. They are puzzled as to WHY the reading would be HIGHER rather than lower. They suspect the oil tubes are plugged and will be flushing the engine with transmission oil (free) (apparently transmission oil is a trick they said) and will replace the oil filter..
They said if THAT does not fix it, then they suspect a COMPRESSION PROBLEM which would involve opening up the engine which they can't do and would require me to go to an engine shop. Is this correct???

A compression problem would not cause a high oil pressure concern.
Other than an electrical problem, the only thing that could cause an unusually high oil pressure would be too thick of an engine oil or a blockage in the port(s).
375-400 kpa is roughly what? 55psi? Certainly nothing I would honestly worry too much about.
Changing the oil filter and adding some transmission fluid to the engine oil would not hurt. Will it fix the problem? Maybe... but like I said, it's probably not a bad idea.
What oil weight do you use and what's the ambient temperature there?

My Z runs between 60 and 95 psi when you get up around the 7200 rpms range... I wouldn't worry about it as long as you aren't blowing any seals out. One cause of the higher pressure might be a partially clogged or plugged crankcase evacuation system or PCV valve.....
