Question Newbie here, have elect. prob

Hi all, love the site, and cant wait to get into it even more!! My question is when i turn my headlights on, my volts guage goes dead, my tach stops working, and one of the blinker indicator lights light up soild green. It has been doing this since i bought it and before i changed motors. Any ideas before i go and start messing with the dash wiring? Thanks in advance. Chuck

Faulty connection or wire making contact with metal. If its when you turn on your lights---then its the lighting system. Lots of wires, just have to trace them and see which one is causing you this problem. Maybe during your motor swap a wire got cut or is pressed against metal and is giving you that problem. Electrical gremlins sock---- hope you can fix it soon.

Sounds like your lights have a bad ground, and their finding a ground through your dash. Seen it before, look at the grounds near the headlights, they often corrode.

well, thanks for getting back to me, It wasnt during the engine swap, it was happening before. it could still be a pinched wire though, I didnt think to look around the headlights but maybe thts where its coming from. i thought it might be iin the dash itself, but ill check the engine bay this weekend and get back to you all. thanks again.
