new trans

Ok heres the deal.

I just did a motor swap for my buddy. Motor and trans from a 92 RS 305 TBI into a 88 sport coupe. Everything worked fine and i got the trans from the 88 cuz the motor was fried bad.

I blew 2nd gear in my rs and it sux. I got to my shop and noticed the output shaft jiggles like 5 mms up and down, side to side, etc. The tail shaft is off when i do this. The super old man, like 85 said it was rebuilt at 100 and we got the car at 120K. He said his young wife bought the car for him and he babied it since. U could tell. He forgot to put the oil plug back in one day and wahlah. The motor fried so we got it for cheap. It was a coincidence that we found the car the same day the *** got ripped off the 92 by a semi.

So is the output shaft supposed to wiggle like that with the tail shaft off. If not what am i looking into when i take the pan off. I need the trans to be good for a couple weeks cuz my uncle is taking whichever case is better and rebuilding it (he builds race transmissions) Im gonna spray N20 on this trans for about a month max. Will it hold. Its in my 92 RS th 700r4 trans with a 75 shot.

You should be fine, the yoke will center it when it`s installed, I have a 2 built trans`s that hold up to my big block (took a while to find a good trans builder that could do that) My "spare " trans has a bit of movement at the tail shaft with no yoke in it. Everything needs a little play or else it wouldn`t move or spin
