save your money and buy a 9 inch or 12 bolt when that 10 bolt craps out.

I just pulled richmond 3.73's out of my Z and installed 3.42's

The 3.73's took the motor out of its power band too quick and it actually slowed it down at the track. I have a T5 which may have aggravated the problem.

Btw, the guy I sold the gears too, is selling them and installing 3.42's because he doesn't like them either. They were richmonds, and they were quite, just can't make full use of the power band with them.
Just MHO

I dont race or plan to race. I have 323s but am not very impressed with the cars pick up. My rear end has never been opened up (repaired or replaced) since the car was new so they are 12 years old with 180k km on them. I have a new motor, rebuilt trans., new drive shaft so now I want new gears. I figured 373s were a good all round gear as I do mainly city driving with the occasional highway cruise.

I haven't had any problem w/ my Richmond 3.42s. Haven't heard of any complaints about them either. What kind of problem have you had with them?

3.73 is a very popular ratio.. Richmond gears are usually a little noisy... I like the noise.. sounds cool.. Precision makes a good set of gears too....
Your rear is only as strong as the parts you put inside of it. A buddy of mine has an 1100HP full framed 83 Buick Regal with the factory 10bolt (housing). Of course there are Mosier or Strange axles.. a spool.. etc..etc... The car does wheelstands and has never had a problem with the rear. And if ya don't believe me you can see the car for yourself.
