Need some info on muffler choices....
Specifically, I would like to hear personal experience pertaining to the following mufflers:
-Edelbrock RPM series 3" in/out muffler
-Dynomax Bullet Race muffler 3" in/out
I am looking for a quiet interior resononce with a relatively quiet highway cruising RPM noise level. WOT noise is of no concern but would like a little less noise at idle compared to a flowmaster.

I am running a Magnaflow, not sure exactly which one (whatever fits stock exhaust tho.) It flows great, and is very quiet too, almost too quiet for me.
Not exactly what you're thinking of, but is an option. Oh yes, it's cheap too if you're on a budget.

i currently have a dynomax muffler and its pretty loud to be honest..in the past ive owned a flowmater..but for some reason the dynomax seems to put out more noise. edelbrock has some pretty good mufflers available for a quieter sound like ceramic packed and special designs to reduce noise.
Actually I am running the MagnaFlow "Flo-Pro" single in, dual out muffler right now with a catalytic converter and the interior resonance is almost unbearable at idle and highway RPMs. My cat is going bad (I have a 3" chevy truck unit) so I was thinking about replacing it with a muffler that would fit in that location. The DynoMax Bullet Race and Edelbrock RPM series are the only two that I can find that will fit in the space I have available.
Heres some sound clips from spintech. They sound pretty sweet.

I have a 1987 Iroc with a tpi 350, I have a borla exhaust and it is sweet. The exhaust is 3 inch from the converter back. What is really cool about the Borla exhaust is that you can change the way the exhaust sounds by putting different sized plates on one of the exit ports, you can go from a open plate that makes it sound loud or you can go to a smaller plate which makes it sound a little quiter, no matter which plate that you put into the exhaust it always sounds good and they are stainless steel exhausts and they have a million mile warranty, I would highly recommend the borla exhaust, they are fairly expesive but they are well worth every penny.
I've got the Dynomax Super Turbo catback on my '89. It has somewhat of a deep idle and has an agressive tone under acceleration, but interior noise seems to be minimal. I think it has gotten a little louder since installation, but 2800 RPM for an hour straight, five days a week will probably do that to any muffler with sound deadening material inside. If you want a little more than stock, this is for you. Plus i picked up some horsepower with it and it was extremely reasonable. The article was in GMHTP.

Great responses so far on this subject. However, I really don't want to replace my magnaflow muffler at this time; I would rather insert another unit in the exhaust in the cat-con loaction to cut down on noise. I am looking for something that is not going to kill performance.
I have experience with the dynomax and I think it is a great muffler for the money. However, I don't think that it provides the flow capacity that my engine needs. The flowmaster worked great but was too loud also. I went to the magnaflow because I got it for about half the price of a dynomax. The magnaflow "flo-pro" muffler has louder idle and cruising interior resonance but WOT excursions are actually the quietest I have heard thus far.
My friend ordered a Borla cat-back like the one someone previously mentioned but we ran into a problem installing it. Appearantly a flange was incorrectly welded from the manufacturer causing the right exhaust tip to either point down into the ground or up into the body. Those of you who have experience with the Borla stainless system I speak of know how these systems come. There was no way to position the tip correctly and we were not about to start cutting pipes and void warranties so the system went back. (Borla's customer service also sucked when we tried getting help with our problem) For the kind of money they want for one of these systems, I think they could have designed and built it a little better.
So, in a nutshell, I want to know who is running a muffler that has excellent flow potential, has a center 3" in and out, and will fit in the space contraints provided for a catalytic converter on a 3rd gen F-body, and has a relatively quiet idle and cruising interior resononce.
