Need To Pass E-check!

im not feeling very confident in my car passing this time around... i ran a scan on the system and it came back w/ a faulty O2 (among a few other things) so... here's my cry for help!!

I got temp. tags until I can register it here in OHIO (im a new resident) and need to get it inspected and e-checked in the next month.

Any tricks I can pull to get the car to pass?! (inexpensive tricks...)

info on the car: '84 LG4 w/ Flowmaster catback and a capped cutout. running stock cat. and dual exit flowmaster muffler. car has basically been sitting the past 3 months

Re: Need To Pass E-check!

i think i have to pass an inspection (under the hood, they also look at the exhaust) and an emmissions test where they check the level of HC, CO, and CO2 your exhaust is putting out

idk if having a cutout will affect it at all, its capped, i hope they pass me on it...

Re: Need To Pass E-check!

In the Cleveland area E-Check the following is looked at:
1) visual for the Cat
2) Tail Pipe check for what you stated. Sometimes on the rollers and other depending on the car tail pipe probe only.
3) Gas cap presure test.
That it for your $19.50 cash every two yrs. Just make sure the car is warmed up to normal temperature.

They don't pop the Hood or look for any performance items.
Unless your car is dog with no Emission controls it should pass.

Re: Need To Pass E-check!

just so you know, emissions checks levels of HC CO and NOx, not CO2

Re: Need To Pass E-check!

I checked my old papers from Kentucky Emissions and the paper says clearly CO2.

so i shouldnt run higher grade gas or put that emissions pass stuff in the tank from auto zone??

it passed sept. '02 w/ flying colors but damn... that was a while ago!!

Re: Need To Pass E-check!

You should be able to pass as long as your car is running good. Mine passed with the timing backed off a little, AIR stuff put back on(just for the test) and a stock replacement cat(my other one is hollowed out). With my way-out of tune 406.

Re: Need To Pass E-check!

i know in '02 when it was last tested I had owned the car about 6 months and there were no records of the last tune up... from may of '02 until just recently nov. '04 there were no tune ups done on the car.

I changed plugs/wires in nov. '04. I hope that gives me the advantage against this STUPID law.

PS: I cut the air pump belt last summer and havent put a new one on yet, would you guys advise me to do that before I even try to test?

Re: Need To Pass E-check!

I would replace that O2 sensor also(use AC type not a Bosh)and change your oil before the test, this will help.
