need mod recommendations for 91 Formula 350

A friend of mine just got a 91 Firebird Formula with the L98 350. I havent really looked into mods for 3rd gens much (mines a 97) so i was hoping for some advice on a couple things for him....

Headers-

SLP 1 3/4
Edelbrock TES
Others?

With of these have the best fit / finish / quality / flow / gains?

Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator-

Crane
Others?

I read on thirdgen.org that by raising the fuel pressure to around 50psi, people have seen gains of around 19 hp and 50 lb-ft on the dyno....it this accurate???

TPI High Flow Intake Runners-

SLP
Edelbrock
Accel/Lingenfelter
Others?

Are these worth it at all??

Thanks in advance guys!!

If he plans to do heavy mods, get the 1 3/4 SLP or else get the 1 5/8 SLP. I had Edelbrock headers in my car and was glad when I switched to SLP.

Also, I have used the Accel/LPE intake and loved it. First time I modded the car was with that entire Superram system and the car just woke up. Later headers and the car felt even better. Finally got a custom EPROM to make use of all the mods and that was great till I needed more mods.

Also for EPROM, I use www.fasterproms.com and they are good. They custom it for you for $350 and future mods cost $150.

I never found much use for the AFPR. All it does is adjust your pressure across the board. Whether you need it or not, you will be getting more fuel throughout the band and not just where you want. If you make it a little higher, your ECM may see it as running rich and compensate. Make it too rich and you will be outside the range where the ECM can adjust. I look at the AFPR as kinda like bombing an entire village to get rid of 2 people instead of taking a couple of snipers to hit them. The issue is that the fuel needs may not be linear so just opening up the fuel is not the best idea.
