Tech question of the day
I've got a 1992 z28 with a 350 TPI. I'm riding down the street the other day when the car died. I put it in neutral and did manage to get it cranked back up. I wasn't far from the house so I drove it home. Now the car won't crank, all it'll do is just turn over. Every now and then it'll make a good effort to crank but won't. I've replaced the plugs, dist. cap, rotor, remote coil, replaced o-rings in the fuel rail, installed adjustable fuel reg. o-rings on injectors. Some of this stuff doesn't have anything to do with my problem, it just needed to be done. I've got about 50 pounds of pressure at the fuel rail. I've also replaced the plugs wires. So whats the deal? Oh yeah, I had my ignition module checked- it was good.
Pickup coil. In the bottom of the distributor where the module is there's a little silver can with a black wire coming out of it. They are notorious for burning up and being hard to diagnose. It may not be the problem but it's the only ignition part you haven't checked.

Here are some things to check.
Use a test light on one of the injectors and see if the light pulses, if it does then the injectors are getting a pulse.
If it doesn't pulse, it could be injector fuses, but you checked those already, or the distributor module underneath the rotor, or the Memcal in the ECM or the ECM itself.
Also check to see if you are getting power to the ECM, there is 2 power sources for the ECM, one comes right from the battery which is an orange wire and one from the ignition which I think is red, can't remember, if one of those isn't working, the car won't fire up.
You can also spray some starter fluid into the plenum and see if it fires up.
Sometimes if the disrtibutor module goes bad and you spray starter fluid into the engine the car will fire up and the ECM will start doing the Injector pulses. ECM doesn't start firing the injectors until 300rpm, module does the firing before that.
