Muffler advice needed
Muffler advice needed
I'm planning on getting a dual 2 1/2" exhaust setup exiting before the rear axle and I would like a muffler pair that sounds somewhat more aggressive than stock but not obnoxiously loud (so no bullet mufflers). More importantly, I want to minimize ground clearance issues so it needs to be as thin as possible. Of course I also want as much flow as I can get while still adhering to the above constraints. Anyone have an idea of some mufflers that can meet my criteria?
Re: Muffler advice needed
If you want the best sounding mufflers but still be quiet, a bit of advice. The muffler has to have a "straight through" design and have a large inside volume. The large volume is what helps to absorb heat and vibration, which in a smaller muffler translate into more sound. So, look for as large of a muffler as you can fit under the car without sacrificing for your above criteria. I got a Single in Dual Out Dynomax setup with a 24" wide muffler! Its relatively quiet at idle, and only gets really loud when you mash the loud pedal.
Good luck.

Good luck.

Looking on Summit Racing, I saw a bunch of 4" thick mufflers that would probably work, but I also saw a 3" think flowmaster 50 series. How well does this muffler flow? I hear its pretty loud, but I would like to hear from someone who has it or knows someone who does. I don't think its a straight through design either.

Would this muffler be a good combination? It will probably be thin enough at 4.5" but I'm just worried it will be too loud.
