Re: 4th gen "clone"
that is a very nice third gen. Personally i would never do it. For the same money id just put in a 400 small block and use the trans i have now which is a tko-600 5 speed rated to 600 ft lbs. But definitly a gorgeous car.

Well it's cool you'd want a most likely slower, less street friendly (worse gas mileage, emissions, etc), less "wow factor" 'maro to beat on.

And personally i would be more wow'd by a 400 block then an ls1, but thats just me.
Re: 4th gen "clone"
an ls1 in a third gen is cool...but id like to see what kind of numbers a 427 small block could put down. How cool would it be for someone to say "what you got under the hood?" and you respond with "just a little small block" when your actually packin 427 cubic inches.

Besides, for the same price you built your 427 to eat STOCK ls1's; someone could just as easily build a 427 gen III motor to toast your sbc. For not too much more.
Hell, even with the stock displacement cam/heads combo and you could be knocking at 500hp without much hassle.
I'm not trying to dismiss the potential of genI SBC's. I'm actually building a 406 for my bird.
Just saying that an ls1 is a far better starting point.
Re: 4th gen "clone"
sweet swap, great job,but the problem i have with the car, unless you really love the 3rd gen styling, correct me if im wrong but cant i buy that exact car with engine/trans/interior.etc in a 4th gen and forget all the work???say a 2001 ss...
Re: 4th gen "clone"
i hate the interior of my 3rd gen and i would love to put in a 4th gen interior, i would love my engine to be obd2 compatible for the ease opf diagnosis
but the wiring is just a frightening thing to think about
dont get me wrong, i can swap a harness, but i mean the entire harness, if u want me to swap the body harness and forget about the engine, i'd be confused for at least a few weeks
