Motown crate motors
Good? Bad? Does anyone know?
I have one at my fingertips (for cheap
) and was wondering if it was worth it...

Looks like a stout stout piece to me. I'd get it and i'd spray it...bottomline
i don't remember what kind of bottom end they put in it but i'm sure it can handle an extra 150HP....maybe 200...
Do they use the Aluminum or IRON Motown heads on the crate engine??
I'd be interested in seeing a set of the aluminum heads on a 406..

I think the one I'm looking at has alu
If not, it's easy enough to get them hehe. They said it dynoed out to have 450 horse or so...and I wouldn't mind throwing a *few* more on top of that with nitrous
Hehehehe

Dang, how do you have access to something like this for a decent price. I have no experience with a motor like that because there is no way I could affort it. The specs sound awesome. You usually get what you pay for so judging by the advertised prices and parts list that should be a solid powerful motor.
the motown crate motors are better then anything gm offered in any of there cars cause the block is custom desined to be stronger in all areas and can be bored way bigger then a gm block. plus, all stock stuff will bolt on. no custom timing chains or any funny stuff like that. I cant remember off hand if they use forged bottom end but Id guess they do. and as far as being a good reputable place, Id have to say they seem to be, but I wouldnt know first hand. how much and what C.I.D. is it?

I want a motown Block.. I hear that they have ones with increased space between the Cam and the crank for serious Stroker cranks.. I would like to get one with 350 mains, 400 bore, so that I could make a 427 stroker... that would be the S**T.. No one could touch you.. BB numbers with Small block high revs, and SB weight... That will be my next engine!
