Modified 350TPI

Does anyone know the ball park figure for a 350 TPI with aluminum corvette heads and 10.25 to 1 compression?

My guess would be around 300 hp and 400 lb's of torque but you guys would know much more than me. If you guys think the figures can't be reached, what cam (I'd like to keep it idling close to stock) would you guys suggest I use? Its using the stock roller rockers, pushrods, and camshaft. I'll probably be upgrading the rocker arms and pushrods. I have yet to decide on the cam.

hmm... i dont think it would be close to 300 hp / 400 tq.... the vette heads are almost the same as the iron l98 heads except for the fact the vette heads are aluminum... i say you'd get an extra 10 hp or so w/ a higher compression and those heads. i could be wrong though

The vette ones are aluminum and have higher compression so I'd figure that stock they are 245 HP so I'd say they are somewhere less than 280 HP

i'd say you would have the rating of a lt1....now change the induction, port those heads right, bigger cam, pistons, etc. and you could get up to your power number and then some.

I'm upgrading from a 305 tpi to a 350 tpi. I want to stay with the T5 trans, so I'm not looking for a ton of power. 280 hp seems like a pretty good number. What cam do you guys suggest. I'm only looking for something pretty close to stock. This will be a daily driver during the summer. The car only has 50,000 miles on it and the trans has maybe 1000 miles on it.

The stock L98 Corvette engine only had 250hp, 280-300hp is pretty much out of the question. Id say 265hp maximum.

4 cylinders gain more power from a compression bumb than that!!!

I'm going to be increasing compression with the pistons and the heads. Although I'm not sure about the heads.......

It will have full exhaust with no cat and a muffler, I'm guessing crane 1.6 rockers, some slight ignition work(maybe), and I'm unsure about the cam.

Sounds like you have a lot of 'maybes', a better power estimate could be derived if you had some solid plans for the engine. Static compression doesnt mean a whole lot, your cam choice will have a lot to do with your final compression, which cannot be determined because you have not chosen a cam yet. There are too many variables to get an accurate estimate yet.

I pulled 265 HP at 4900 RPM on the rear wheels on the dyno with 210/220 .510 lift hydraulic roller with ported vette heads, headers and exhaust and big tube TPI. The only impressive part of that pull was the 355 lb/ft. of torque down at 3800 RPM

Hey phantomGTZ, the cam's coming out and will be for sale.

No way a stock L98 w/ just vette heads will make as much HP as a stock F-body LT1! It also depends on what year L98....in the 80s they wern't as strong as a 92 F-body L98. F-body L98 was rated at 245 hp and about 335 ft-lbs (I think) torque (flywheel). LT1s make that much hp stock at the rear wheels, usually more. L98s are torque monsters, which makes them great for stop light to stop light. But after 4500 rpm they DIE! I had an 87 Z28, dropped an L98 in it (had the 305 TPI), had good torque, low top end power.

this is a 87' Iroc. I just wanna throw a 350 in it to give it a little more power(not to mention make a sleeper with 305 badging).

It just so happens I found a motor with higher compression pistons, better rods, heads, and it has zero miles on it.

I'm really not interested in an LT1 swap ( I mean, theres LS1's out there)

I just don't have the money

That makes me think that a turbo TPI would be an all round monster.............
