How fast do you think it wold have to be going in order to start??

Ya I know.. that's what everybody tells me, and I know I will, but college-boy+part of a part-time job= I'm just flat-out stuck.
Oh and if I were to get 2g's for it.. i have a '93 Lincoln Mark 8 lined up right up there in that price range

^No, an engine that "doesn't even run" is different than an engine that simply needs a starter.
I am not good with pricing of cars, which is exactly why I asked you guys about it.

 

Matt, in all honesty you might be able to get 2k for it if it's cleaned up real well. I know you rebuilt the engine and did head work, and lots of uprgrades, but that don't matter on the market unless someone is specifically looking for the mods you did to it. To get 2k out of it you will need to do that starter. Sorry man that's my honest opinion. 3rd Gen Camaros aren't that hot of a comodity right now. Another factor that will hurt is the fact the car still has 200k on the clock rebuilt engine or not. Good luck bro, I still say you bite your tongue and do something else and hold on to it. Remember how much I wanted to kick my own *** when I sold my 85 Z28? I went so nuts after 5 months I HAD to find another 3rd gen. Luckily I finially did.

If I'm going to fix the starter I'm just flat-out not gonna sell the f*cker, lol. The reason I want it gone is not only because I need a DD, not only does it not start, but it's too d@mned cold to work on it, and I have f*cked with the starter on that about 5 times! (Which is a lot because where the car is, I do NOT have any tools and I have to use concrete slabs/2x4's for jackstands )

 

I know it sucks man, but you are really gonna regret it if you sell it over a starter. Grin and bear it and get a good AC delco starter, and your problems will be no more. Parts store starters almost always suck. Make wierd noises, grind, etc. I've been down that road. If you can come up with the money just get the starter, bundle up, grin and bear it and go put er on.

 

no sell the damn thing.your going to school,you dont need this car right now.if you go to school and finish maybe you can get a half way decent job and then have some money to buy a nice ride,one with less than 200k on it and a bougus starter and rust.your young,theres time for cars later.get your priorities straight.a car is just a piece on metal and plastic.they can be replaced.and as much as you guys say you "love"your irocs,seriously how many of you will own it in 10.15 or 20 years????...

 

Oiginal owner and still have it since I bought the 1987 IROC-Z new in May of 1987. Some people will hang on to them, 18 1/2 years in my case.

I dont have a jack. Our family is gay and we have everything BUT a jack! Heck.. we even have a HUGE expensive SINK standing in our garage Not only do I not have a jack.. but I have no jack stands. Not only that, but where the car is the power is shut-off from inside the house and nobody is ever f*cking home. No power=no lights+no heater. It's just one long-assed journey with nothing happening

Ya know when you think about it Anthony brings up a good point as well. You are young and in school, and that definitely is more important than a car right now. Good luck in your decision Matt, but also remember, this is your Dad's car too that he passed on to you. No other Camaro you get might have as much value deep down, if you know what I mean. matt you need to relax hoss,you are way too young to be pent up venting like that.if you need a jack and stand beg borrow or steal them,simple.or go online and buy a set for about 100 bucks.actually less probably depending on how much you need.walmart used to sell a 2 ton jack with a NEAT carrying case for 30 bucks,throw in some 30 dollar jakc stands from harbor freight tools and boom,your starter is in.dont make some thign harder than it is
