Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
Sorry no pics.. but here's a quick rundown.
Dark Maroon exterior, black interior.
Exterior: Right fender has a huge dent, but that is taken off and I have a new one I just need to put on. Paint is *decent*, there are some minor sun-fades (were gonna be fixed this winter...) and there is minor rust on the right wheelwell and left drivers-side door bottom left corner (also going to be fixed this winter..).
Interior: Mint. Reclineable seats, and they have headrests which were relatively rare in that year. 5spd, aftermarkt shift **** but I also have the original ball. There is currently part of my $3k stereo in back but I will be taking that out. Also a 500$ Pioneer receiver and that will be going; if they buyer wants to pay an extra 140$ I will include a JVC receiver in it I have laying around.
Front tires are brand new (but not mounted), I have the Comp. Engineering SFC's lying in a box, I have a dual-snorkel intake ready to be put on I just need to order dual-electric fans, the 305 is completely built, the T5 has TONS of life left and the clutch is basically brand new. The rear-end is about 80k old. (It was blown and replaced). It has brand new front brakes (rotors, calipers, pads..) and tie-rods. T-tops are in EXCELLENT shape. Drivers door sags a little bit, the passenger is fine. Has a $500 K9 alarm; power windows, power door locks, ignition kill, automatically rolls up the windows then triggered, there is a male as well as smooth-operator voice that tells you if the car is armed (and there is silent mode)... There is a front Purple license plate neon, as well as 2 underbody neons (also purple)...
I REALLY need teh money for a daily driver as I am practically car-less right now, let alone being able to afford more money for the Z right now
The car WILL run if you get a new starter for it (or shim it.. one or the other I dont really know yet..). I have had it running. It chops NICE, is loud, and sounds mean as hell. I have 1LE shocks to throw on it as well as some 1LE swaybars. I have the matching y-pipe and custom 80-series 3" catback lying around as well (will go with the car..)
ANY idea on how much I can get for it as-is?
If I sell this, there is ALWAYS the future for buying me the TPI IROC i have always wanted
Thanks a lot guys,
Matt

Re: Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
Uh Matt,
Your car doesnt run and the brakes are bad, you have a bunch of speed parts in a box, and parts to fix the brakes. The car needs rust repair and paint. You are selling it without any stereo.
1) Speed parts in a box on package deal are pretty much giveaway. I suggest you keep them and either sell them on the CZ28.com classifieds, or else take pictures and EBAY them.
2) WIthout a demonstratably running engine, every buyer will assume its a blown-up motor with hosts of problems in need of fixing. They will pay roller-only prices for the car.
3) Your description makes me think that this is a non-running , half-started project car. A project car that needs powertrain, bodywork, and paint. Those are all big ticket items. It's hard to get much money out of the car when it's in that kind of condition.
I'd suggest you sell off the speed parts for whatever you can get, then get the engine running and the car road worthy. Put on the dent-free fender, and sell the car as an inexpensive driver. If you get a couple hundred bucks for the speed parts, you'll be a lot better off financially. The car will be worth more in running condition without the spare parts. However, I can't tell you what its worth without seeing it. Five years ago I ran across a running '85 IROC with wasted paint job but good interior and not much rust for $700. I cant say what that means for your case, just that old Z28s in need of restoration aren't in a lot of demand quite yet. Probably another ten years.

Re: Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
Nope brakes are brand new.. EVERYTHING is brand new and as a matter of fact, I have a set of $800 SSBC racing brakes waiting to be put on them..
I was in the middle of priming it this winter, but my Camaro buddy is in a lot of trouble and is stuck down south so I dont foresee that happening. The engine was proffesionally rebuilt by g/f's mom's b/f who has owned 3 mechanics shops and a large handfull of his own souped up hotrods and Muscle Cars. I had the car running, but the POS napa starters keep going on it..
The powertrain on it is like brand new; hence the NEW clutch, NEW rearend, and NEW tires

Thanks for the advice, though that was not exactly what I was looking for lol.

Re: Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
Oh Damn Matt, don't sell it, you'll die later on. You need to hunt around for a 400 dollar beater!
If you do sell it, how much for the sub frame connectors??
Hey I just got an idea, what if you maybe just sell some of the parts off you didnt install yet, and see if you can scrap up enough from that for a beater. I know that would suck, but not nearly as bad as selling the whole car.

Re: Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
^I really don't have much laying around that's worth anything though :/
My subframers are brand new still in the box (box has been opened but still..) They are $100 Competition Engineering weld-in sfc's.
I don't want to sell it, but I really dont know what else to do. I go to school full-time, and my job (Delta Sonic..) pays REALLY good, I just haven't been getting many hours because it snows, then it snows some more, etc.. if it would snow, then stop.. or be snow-free, and stay that way, hours would go up. But the weather keeps changing, so I get like 8 hourse a week lately :/

Re: Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
*DO* buy yourself a beater.
They are all over the place these days. I'd bet that if you sold the CAI for $75, the 1LE swaybars and shocks for $75, the SFCs for $75, you would have enough to pick up a rusty truck with which to drive around in the winter. After that, the rusty truck will be a good parts hauler.
That's what I did for the winters of 1991, 1992, I bought a junker then sold it at the end of winter. Winter of 1991 it was an Olds Toronado that I got for $100. I sold it for $60. Winter of 1992 it was a Skylark that I bought for $400. I sold it for $400.

Re: Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
85_305 so you are selling your car. Is this the same 305 that was making 300Hp with a reworked bottom end and bolt on performance parts???? If thats the case you should clean up on that car. Not running who cares, you estimated its 300 HP.
Re: Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
If I looked I could prolly find a POS, but I really dont want something on it's last legs because I can't afford to be fixing it right now...

****ing troll go somewhere else.
Re: Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
Since it's a stick, can't you just push it and pop the clutch to start it?
That's what I used to do. Although It was with a carbed car (no ecm or sensors).

Re: Might have to sell the Z.. how much do you tink I can get?
^I have thought about it.. but wouldn't you have to get the car going pretty fast in order for that to happen???
Mine is carbed too so it may just work depending on how fast you need to get it going...
