LT4 hotcam kit in L98

And yes the kit does work and it works pretty good in TPI motors.

the TPI intake isnt designed for hi end hp..sure itll "work" but youll gain much more pwer from a smaller cam...
put that HC in a LT1 car and itll be worth another 30 hp easy over the TPI
well, damn there is some guys pulling some good numbers on this board and on thirdgen.org using the hot cam setup.
The cam is still a decent increase on a TPI motor...if you want to really get technical, there is a guy on fl-thirdgen that did a lt1( you know the manifold that screwams to 6000) cam swap and on his TPI motor and has the dyno graphs to prove that its a decent swap.

i know itll pull some good numbers..but what i mean is that with nothing else differnt but the manifold..the HC in a LT1 typed intaked car will be faster...
the HC isnt designed for a TPI...
theres a reason its called the "LT4 hot cam" not the TPI hot cam
its meant for higher revving, well past the TPI's breathing capabilities....

I'm sorry, but I don't know any cams (with the exception of some hardcore crate-motors) that GM makes that's for screaming high RPM's...the hot cam is designed to make good HP and keep all the streetable low end torque....Perfect for TPI and LT1 motors, LT1's are built to turn higher RPM's, but TPI and LT1 share the same flat hardcore torque curve (except the TPI makes a bit more low and the LT1 makes a bit more high)...on a modded TPI the Hot cam really wakes it up.

tpi motors are done at 4,500..its the design of the intake..
built for low and mid range grunt..not for HP..
LT1 motors have more low end torque the TPI cars.. LT1's
peak at 335 ft pounds at 2,400 rpm..TPI is 345 (l98) at 3,200
and have a very short runner for HI rpm breathing..peak hp is 285 at 5,200 for the LT1 and 245 hp @4,400 for the TPI
the cam doesnt care what intake its under..what matters is if the intake can use the cam..and in which case the TPI CANNOT use it to its full potential..as i said it will pick up a lot of power..but if nothin was changed OTHER then the intake...the LT1 intaked car WILL BE faster...more low end grunt and more hi end HP...which the LT4 HC is designed for
not tryin to be a **** dude but i mean seriously cant you see why the HC isnt the best choice for a TPI car
if youd like i will explain why a tpi cannot take FULL advantage of high lift long duration cams
theres a reason why its called TUNED PORT...and not a "ram" like an LT1 intake
I understand the concept, I'm not ignorant in the ways of TPI...and on a stock intake you are so right...with mods that cam does great...granted it does better on an LT1, but an LT1 is a much better design...I would go with a hot cam on a modded motor, that's me...If it's to much cam for you ok, but I like it and I personally think it doesn't loose much low end torque (which a TPI has plenty to loose) and on a opened up modded intake system really wakes it up on the top end.
